Dustless Sanding

Sanding without the mess. I use sanders connected to a dust extractor, so the dust is captured at the source instead of settling all over your home.

Dustless Sanding in Bath

Sanding is the most important part of preparation, and traditionally the messiest. Fine dust gets into carpets, soft furnishings, air vents and every corner of the house, often for days after the decorator has gone. Dustless sanding changes that. My sanders are connected directly to an extraction unit that pulls the dust away as I work, so you get a properly prepared surface without the cloud of dust.

It's ideal if you're living in the house while the work is done, have young children, pets or allergies, or simply don't want to be cleaning up dust for a week afterwards. I use a long-reach sander for walls and ceilings and smaller detail sanders for woodwork, all running through the extractor. That covers walls and ceilings, skirting boards, doors, architraves, window frames, kitchen cabinets and staircases. In older Bath properties, where there may be several layers of old paint, keeping dust out of the air matters even more. Because the surface stays clean, the paint goes on to a better base, which means a smoother, longer-lasting finish.

What’s Included

  • Far less mess

Dust is captured at the sanding head and drawn into the extractor, so it doesn't settle on floors, furniture and furnishings.

  • Healthier air at home

Much less airborne dust, which is better for children, pets and anyone with asthma or allergies.

  • A better finish

A clean, dust-free surface means paint bonds properly and goes on smoother, with no grit trapped in the finish.

  • Quicker clean-up

Less time spent cleaning up means the job moves faster and your home is back to normal sooner.

Common Questions About Dustless Sanding

Is dustless sanding completely dust-free?

Not 100%, but the difference is huge. The extractor captures the large majority of the dust at the source, so there's far less in the air and very little to clean up afterwards. I still put dust sheets down as standard.

Can I stay in the house while you sand?

Yes. That's one of the main reasons people ask for it. You can carry on living at home with far less disruption than traditional sanding.

What can you sand this way?

Walls, ceilings, skirting boards, doors, architraves, window frames, kitchen cabinets and staircases. If you're not sure whether it suits your job, just ask when I quote.

Does dustless sanding cost more?

Every job is priced individually. When I quote, I'll explain exactly what preparation is included, so there are no surprises.
